Sofie Winther (b. 1991) is a visual artist who lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark. Her interdisciplinary practice spans sculpture, performance and video, often brought together in installations that examine the relationship between body and cultural structures. Winther’s work revolves around themes of care, control, labor and institutionalization, addressing power dynamics within contemporary western society.
Alongside her artistic practice, Winther runs Puer Parasitus (b. 2021). Puer Parasitus is a fashion label emerging from character development and situated at the intersection of fashion and sculpture. The label is rooted in an intuitive, three dimensional approach to found textiles and recycled materials, where deconstruction and reconstruction challenge conventional production methods and aesthetic hierarchies.
Puer Parasitus explores themes of care, value, labor and parasitism. The practice questions systems of consumption and material hierarchies. Each piece functions as both garment and object - dissolving the boundary between the two.
